How do I care for my jewelry?

To preserve the brilliance of your vermeil and avoid damaging it, it is essential to avoid placing your jewelry near any source of heat or humidity. It should be stored in a cool, dry, and bright place. To prevent the natural oxidation process, we recommend wearing your jewelry as often as possible and not leaving it in a closed box.

 

What is vermeil?

Vermeil is a precious metal coated with gold. The main difference between vermeil and gold-plated jewelry is that vermeil has a silver base; whereas plated pieces can be made with a variety of metals (metal or plastic, for example). For this reason, the latter is considered more precious. Sterling silver must be at least 925 thousandths fine.

 

Why does the vermeil on my jewelry develop a patina?

Vermeil is a natural precious material that changes over time, and sometimes it oxidizes slightly over time and through use. However, it is possible to restore its shine.

 

Jewelry leaves marks on my hands, what should I do?

Vermeil is a living material that can react to the pH of your skin. If you notice any signs of wear on your skin, we recommend cleaning your jewelry with the wipe provided in your box. If this problem persists, please contact our customer service at contact@agateperido.com .

 

Can I swim with my vermeil jewelry?

To prevent the vermeil on your jewelry from developing a premature patina, we recommend that you avoid contact with salt or chlorinated water as much as possible.

 

How do I clean my jewelry?

When you purchase your jewelry, you will receive a special cloth in its case. Feel free to clean your jewelry with this cloth. Never use chemicals to clean jewelry, such as dish soap or makeup removers, and do not wipe it with just any cloth. It is recommended to use a microfiber cloth to gently wipe your jewelry.

 

How to take care of stones?

Agate Perido jewelry is made with natural stones sourced worldwide. The stones are fragile; avoid dropping them or hitting them on hard materials. They can be cleaned with clean water, without any added materials.
