Who is Agate Perido?

Why did you choose two stone names?
For color and the mineral kingdom. It's fascinating to return to the origins of the world. The encounter, the association of colors, what they reveal about each other, the way they enhance each other is for me a metaphor for human souls. I love the emotions they provoke thanks to their warmth or coldness, their clarity or darkness. I love the sensations they echo in our culture or our habits. I like to understand jewelry in its artistic dimension, placing it at the center of the story.
Who is behind Agate Perido?
My name is Marine and I founded Agate Perido in 2025.
I studied jewelry at ArCo, the School of Visual Communication Art in Lisbon. It's a passion that remained buried for years, since when I was young I studied literature and political science, a field in which I worked for 20 years. But when you know Lisbon, you understand why artists and creators flock there. The light that, at the end of the day, radiates across the sea of straw, is a true treasure trove for inspiration.
It is an imaginary character, it is also the association or the meeting of 2 names of stones, Agate and Peridot.
Because for me, the encounter is the origin of everything and that is what I seek to express through this brand.
Why an imaginary character?
Firstly, certainly out of a protective instinct. Showing myself as a creator is not my thing and putting distance between my creations and myself was essential to be able to get started. Then, echoing my taste for literature. Imagining Agate Perido as a character in a novel is very amusing and I love using it to express what touches me closely or from afar.

How would you describe your jewelry?

I see jewelry as a gateway to a light, offbeat universe, an old-fashioned brown. But behind a casual and impertinent appearance, Agate Perido's jewelry is intended to be committed with strong color contrasts, assertive volumes, and faithful to impeccable craftsmanship. Made piece by piece, entirely by hand in Europe, Agate Perido is committed to ensuring its creations appeal to both men and women.
Why jewelry?
What's fascinating about jewelry is that it reveals as much as it conceals: it expresses what we want to show while keeping its secrets. Agate Perido imagined this ring in memory of her grandmother, a discreet woman, silent when asked about her life and her past. She sees this bezel-set diamond, worn on her little finger on a gold band, and still finds herself wondering where this ring came from and who gave it to her.
Another image is this lapis lazuli necklace that she wore proudly, brought back "from the Indies" as she said. Simple but elegant, it remains the discreet witness of her long travels alongside her great writer friend, Dominique Lapierre.
So, each piece of jewelry is a paradox: it modestly reveals a fragment of oneself, a piece of history that one chooses to share.
